Nothing Else

Poetry

Rest me not on my laurels

My good looks, fortune or fame

If I shall gain the whole world but not have You

I’d have nothing to my name

No applause shall appease me

No friendship, lover or affection due

My heart would be left cold and empty

Without the fulfillment of You

Mark 8:36

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
