When There Seems to be no way

Shake off the dust

Get rid of the junk

Junk that’s been piling on for years

It’s weighed you down

Brought you down roads

That never were planned for you here

Your exit is now

Don’t miss the turn

This new road will be free and light

I’ve heard your prayers

It’s never too late

I’ll turn all this wrong into right

Isaiah 43:18-19

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Sin

One thought and nothing more

Maybe fate guiding, intended for me

Just a thought lingering

Tempting me to make it be

So I examine it, explore it

Start wanting it to become true

It intertwines my being

Influences what I think and do

This thought, this seed

Fighting day and night to win

What if this thought feeling like destiny

Is really just my sin

1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

Hebrews 12:1

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,

Messy Life

When things got tough and my dreams were taken away, I ran away from You.

When I felt Your hand convicting my heart, I threw my anger at You.

When my world gets mixed up and my vision disappears,

I fumble in the darkness scared to face You to ask for forgiveness again.

Especially when I can’t seem to get rid of my sin.

But You keep calling me. You keep calling me home.

I don’t even know where to start so You help me to pour out my heart.

By this time, there are so many dark corners I’ve hidden.

The messes were piled up too high.

Moment by moment You chipped them away

And overflowed Your grace on me.

It’s alright to feel the heaviness of wanting to live right for You.

In my desperation, I saw how many things are impossible for me to do.

But there You were again, offering Your help to me.

Your power to take away my sin.

Your love to see me through.

Your friendship because You’re the best friend I have.

Your Spirit to make me more like You.

Right Way

Run run run away from all you know is not right

Don’t look back, Don’t hesitate

at your intuition to take flight

The wrong way comes easily

Sometimes it will fall at your feet

Don’t misinterpret it as the way to go

It will surely lead to your defeat

Stay on the path I’ve paved for you

I’ve planned for all your provisions here

Trust me and follow my guidance

Keep your heart covered in prayer.
Proverbs 4:27
Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.
Isaiah 30:21
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

Heavy

Ouch!  Like I said before, I’m going through some of my older writings and this one struck me as so heavy.  It, to me, paints a picture of a heavy laden, burdened heart, seeking answers and relief during a season of struggle

Passing by in songs of silence

I watch You work behind the scenes

Questions and doubts about this tapestry painted

Looking to see beyond the fog

Answers lingering here and there

Reality mixed with fiction, what is true?

Longing for the days my memory clings to

When I knew You, the You I could fathom

But, now sin enters the picture and doesn’t leave

It’s always hanging around

Spurring burdens on my heart

How does this fit into the picture?

I am waiting, learning and asking for You

I feel that my heart has some heavy needs

I’ll write down what I feel I’ve learned

And ask You again to take the lead.

Turn

You do offer strength

And Your call is strong

You’ve asked me to choose

Right over wrong

But what if I don’t

What if I go the wrong way

Would you love me the same

Would I stay in Your grace

Could I love You from there

Would my vision be strained

Would You still hear my prayers

Or would everything change?
2 Chronicles 7:14-15

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.
Corinthians 3:16

But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
