Thoughts

Poetry

All of the noise in my head doesn’t need to come together in some grand symphony

Not every loose end needs tying

Not every uncertainty given finality

This is life – it’s tough. Some days are amazing, others are rough.

Working through things won’t always bring answers but it does bring wisdom.

And maybe today that truth is enough to give thanks for.

Whispers of Truth

Poetry

You calm me and bring hope

You are steady and sturdy

You are larger than what I see

You whisper truth to me

Your voice is the one I can trust

In a world full of so many unknowns

So I’ll let go of the answers I don’t have

And let your voice lead me home

Greater

Poetry

Cleanse my heart

Purify my mind

To be untainted by the sins

I leave behind

The deception is strong

But Your revelation’s in sight

My sin once heavy

Now by Your power made light

John 16:33

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Struggle

Poetry

There’s a little extra pain in my tears

A little more sorrow in my heart

The struggle is getting the best of me

Each day I’m not sure how to start

One breath at a time

I slowly move forward and pray

That I’ll see something, hear a word

That sounds different than it did yesterday

Tether

Poetry

Tether me

Tether me

To Your side

For in my heart

Lurks desire

To go astray

Tether me

Tether me

To Your side

To keep me near

And protect me

From my own way

Romans 7:15

I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

Guidance

Poetry

Sometimes you need to walk awaySometimes you need to stay

Sometimes you need to understand

Sometimes you need to turn away
Sometimes you need to open up

Sometimes you need to raise your shield

Sometimes you need to push on

Sometimes you need to stop and be healed.
There is a time and a place for every move

Lord give us the wisdom to know which to choose.
Make our steps light

Keep our hearts pure

As we navigate each day

May we with kindness endure

Trust You not Me

Poetry

There are times we come to a place

Where a decision needs to be made

Our natural self leans a certain way

But You tell us to stop and wait

Past my inklings

Past instinct

Past impulsiveness

There’s your voice I think
When I don’t follow me

But I wait and trust in You

You give me the answers

And show me what to do
Psalm 23:1-6
1  The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

2  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

4  Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6  Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Hidden Treasures

Analogies

I have a table, a side coffee table, that’s been in my living room about a month or two.  I see it every day.  We use it to hold a basket of books on top and a basket of toys on the bottom.  It’s useful and it looks nice.  But today I looked over and saw it has a drawer!  Somehow I had never noticed it before.  It’s a small, discreet drawer – perfect for maybe some pens and a notepad.  The table just increased in usefulness and value to me.  Actually, it was always that way, with that extra value.  I just hadn’t noticed.

What secret treasures do you possess that the Lord hasn’t revealed to you yet?  What hidden drawers of usefulness have always been there that you just haven’t seen?

Isaiah 45:3

I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.
